They’re Someone’s… Respect Our Staff. Protect Our Community.
Behind every Borders Buses uniform is a real person — someone’s parent, partner, grandparent, son or daughter.
“They’re Someone’s…” is our campaign highlighting the people behind the roles and reinforcing a simple message:
our staff deserve respect — every journey, every day.

Why We’re Running This Campaign
Anti-social behaviour on our network is relatively low — but even one incident of abuse is one too many. Across the country, abuse towards transport workers is rising, and locally we often see pressures increase during busy periods.
This behaviour comes from all age groups, and the impact on staff is always the same.
That’s why we’re working closely with Scottish Borders Council and Police Scotland to take a zero-tolerance approach to abuse and intimidation.
Meet Our People
This campaign features real Borders Buses colleagues you see every day:
Ally — Driver, cyclist, husband
Hannah — Customer service advisor, horse lover, daughter
Kevin — Driver, grandad, family man
Stevie — Driver, biker, dad
Susan — Customer service advisor, boxer, mum
They’re not actors. They’re your local bus team.
Our Message Is Simple
✔ Be kind
✔ Be patient
✔ Be respectful
Because anti-social behaviour doesn’t just affect a job — it affects the person behind it.
Working Together
This campaign is delivered with Scottish Borders Council and Police Scotland, with joint action on reporting and enforcement. From 2026, repeated misuse of free travel can also result in temporary suspension from the scheme.
